An Inspiring Week from Times Square to Speaking to Kids

This week has got to of been one of the most proudest weeks in my life. Who of thought two years ago my name for a moment in time would be in lights in Times Square or that I would be in a classroom of eager young artists inspiring them.

My homie Asif invited me to speak to the kids at Palm Beach State College summer art class program. Those kids are amazing and intelligent. Great questions, this one kid walk up to me asking if I could sign one of HIS pieces of art. I was so flattered and told him I couldn't because that's his work. A girl no older than 11 asked me for my website so she could tell her parents she met someone famous, I was like I'm not famous lol another kid busted out well ur still a celebrity even if locally. These kids were to cool. There trying to work it were I came book a few more times to talk to other kids. Crazy dope experience, shout out 2 Asif aka Bruno Mars lol

And of course there was Monday. While I was at work in West Palm Beach, Fl for a moment in time my painting "You Don't Know My Name" along with my name shine of the screen in Times Square, NYC! I am still humbled by the experience and know there was literally no way that didn't happen without all the support. Thank you all

I'm still searching for more pics/video of this

Pressure: Her Strength #Painting #Art

I don't want to go to much into detail of what inspired this piece. I had did one like this a day or to before Paint The Throne. There was only one picture taken of it and I had given it to someone I cared about. While talking to that same person the other day, I decided to recreate it on a 30x40 canvas.

Recreated Painting: "2Roads2AmericanDreamsII" #Painting #Art inspired by @KanyeWest #Power #MyBeautifulDarkTwistedFantasy #MBDTF #ArtLife #Art

This is a piece I've been waiting to revisit for a minute after I lost the original (don't ask). The original piece "2Roads2TheAmericanDream" (read about the piece here) was featured in international/critically acclaimed spoken word artist Taalam Acey's project "MODERN AESTHETICSISM".

What prompted me to recreate it was I was bumping Kanye's Power yesterday and it reminded me how Kanye's mind-state was similar to what this piece was about. That feeling of coming so far only to be reminded your just a nigger once you slip up. I decided to not add words this time and just let the painting it's self speak for it's self.

"LoveNColorz"
Oil Paint
Wood

Random back story to this was right before I started it started pouring because of a thunderstorm. The light in my studio doesn't work so it was basically darkness in the room. I didn't really know what colors I was using other than the white to brighten it. I pretty much so whatever happens, happens and this happened

"Can We Get Much Higer.." Painting & my Art will be seen in Times Square

So I found this board and decided I wanted to do something with it. I'm still constantly playing My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and the song "Dark Fantasy"'s chorus is still stuck in my head. Guess it doesn't help that I have it as my text messages ringtone. So I decided to paint the Phoenix flying in the sky.

In other massive news, thanks to my wonderful friends and supporters I made it into the ArtistWanted : Art Takes Times Square exhibit in NYC. This is such a major deal for me, I can not being to express how honored and overwhelmed I am to be part of this. But the MOST important part is it's only because of you all that voted for me. I truly appreciate it.

The show takes place in Times Square, Broadway Plaza between 42 & 44 street from 7pm to 11pm
My art with be shown with many other amazing artist on the BILLBOARD in Times Square. C'mon homie that's MAJOR!!!!

The legendary Questlove of The Roots will be hosting a VIP party where my artwork will also be seen.

I personally won't be able to attend but just the fact paintings by this regular Haitian kid  I made in this small room, in West Palm Beach is going to be shown on the billboard at Times Square. It's beyond a honor. Thank you all

"Where Angels Rest..." #Painting #Art inspired by @KanyeWest #MyBeautifulDarkTwistedFantasy #MBDTF #DarkFantasy

Originally I was going to make this a 3 piece set (and that's still a possibility) but decided to just do the 2 piece 8x10. After visiting The Norton Museum of Art, I guess my muses are musing. Was bumping "Dark Fantasy" by Kanye West and the way the hook goes "can we get much higher, so high, so hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggggggghhhhhhh" makes me think of angels just chilling in the clouds. Chilling in the heavens, that how pure, and amazing that section is.

So I made these pieces to reflect that. I didn't want the skies to be light blue cuz it would of been to cliche. I wanted to keep that vibe of it being 'dark' but colorful. I wanted to have something close to the color schemes that were shown in the "Runaway" short movie, when the Phoenix fell from the sky to keep it a little tied in.

Story behind "Lost My Queen 2 Da Clouds" #Painting #Art inspired by @KanyeWest #MyBeautifulDarkTwistedFantasy #MBDTF

So I've been slowly working on pieces for this "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" inspired solo exhibit. And this is one of the latest pieces to be born from my constant listening of the Kanye West album. I was dealing with a issue that kind of gave me painters block.

Well not really painters block, cause I was creating it. Yet I kept repainting over the painting because I felt like I couldn't translate what I was feeling. While listening to "Lost In The World" and "Runaway" (specifically the breakdown), I thought of the 'Phoenix, chilling in the clouds far away from her love. Just sort of lost.

To pay a little homage to Basquiat, I used his crown over her head to symbolize that she isn't just some ordinary woman. She was/is someone's queen, someone that person who lost her loved dearly. I think everyone in life goes through these stages in their relationships where miscommunication can cause distance, or one or the other feels the need to just break free. Just be alone, in the clouds. I think this is my interpretation of this moment.

At first I hated this piece, the only thing that kept me from painting over it was people liked it. So I wanted to see what they liked in it for myself. I walked away from it for a day or two. After a visit to the Norton Museum of Art with my sis In'Jah, I felt re-inspired and  decided to give it a little more color. To me that was what was missing.
